Fight plastic in your bathroom!

Bathroom plastic laid bare.

  • Around 33 million people in the UK use a standard toothbrush made from plastic.
  • Every year in the UK we dispose of around 130 million toothbrushes!
  • The UK gets through 13.2 billion cotton buds and 10.8 billion wet wipes a year.
  • Cotton-bud sticks are one of the top items found on beach cleans. They are small enough to escape to the sewage system and get washed out to sea.

Toothbrushes are almost always plastic, but they don't have to be. Try a toothbrush made of bamboo, one of the world's fastest growing and most sustainable materials. When you can put it tin your compost.

Toothpaste usually comes in plastic tubes. Again, it doesn't have to. Some brands come in metal tubes that can easily be recycled and some in tablet form or glass jars.

Try toothpaste that comes in glass jar or in tablet form. it might not be what you are used to but it will work and is just as fab a way to fight plastic twice a day!
